SUMMARY:Wekiva Youth Camp Adult Volunteer Training Fun
DESCRIPTION:Fri\, Feb 7 ( 1 pm)- Sun. Feb 9 ( 12 pm) 2025 \nWekiva (wé-Kī-vá) is a youth camp that FFGC sponsors.  We pay for the capital buildings and support the operations of the camp.  The future is for us to support and the children to lead.  The camp is located at the Florida State Park – Wekiwa (wé-Kī-Wá) – in Apopka\, Florida.  The two names are similar.  You may make donation to the camp here:  https://ffgc.org/Donate \nThe Wekiva Youth Camp is an environmental education program begun in 1959 as a Junior Nature Camp where garden club volunteers helped to instill a love\, concern\, and desire to protect the flora and fauna of our beautiful state of Florida.  \nIt’s that time again for 2025 Wekiva Volunteer Training. A weekend of friendship\, nature and the beauty of Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka\, FL \nFFGC’s Weklva Youth Camp has been located at Wekiwa Springs Florida State Park since 1974. Over a six-week each summer\, campers completing grades 1-8 spend a week living in cabins and learning about the importance of conservation and protecilon of our environment. Adult Volunteers and Environmental Educators serve as Program Leaders and role models to our campers. Volunteers are housed in alr-conditioned cabins with indoor plumbing. The Clinic is staffed with a Registered Nurse on site dally. Our Camp Director supervises the activities of the campers and the Counselor Staff\, which Is comprised almost entirely of former campers. Wekiva Youth Camp Volunteer Training is an excellent opportuinity to become acquainted with summer volunteer opportunities. Space is limited. The first 36 registrants will have the opportunity for Volunteer cabins.
